The importance of the interaction between religion, politics and society has become more and more obvious in recent years. If you are interested in supplementing your education with tools to analyse and describe this interplay, the supplementary subject in religion, politics and society might be the right choice for you. You study topics like religion and democracy, religious nationalism, globalisation in relation to fundamentalism and multiculturalism, religious minorities and integration.

The supplementary subject introduces you to a number of tools that can be used to:


  • communicate knowledge about the history and typical content of religions.
  • describe and understand important social structures and developments.
  • carry out sociological analyses of current social issues.
  • communicate knowledge about the influence of religion on social conditions.
  • explain the importance of religions in relation to ethnic minorities and integration.

Admission requirements

In order to be admitted to a supplementary subject, you have to be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree programme at a Danish university. Furthermore, the academic regulations of the bachelor’s degree programme have to allow for a combination with a supplementary subject.
