1. Find your qualifying entry examination
 

You need a qualifying entry examination in order to be considered for a programme at Aarhus University.

Our assessment of your qualifying entry examination is based on your upper secondary education.


The qualifying entry examination in Denmark is:

Please note: A, B and C refers to subject levels, not grades.

A-subjects

Danish A

Danish A is equivalent to:

  • Svensk modersmål/Svensk A1 Lärokurs with minimum 6 courses

English A

English A is equivalent to:

  • A‐språk engelska/Englannin kieli, A‐oppimäärä with minimum 12 courses

Mathematics A

Mathematics A is equivalent to:

  • Matematiikasa pitkä /Matematik lång with minimum 13 courses

Biology A

Biology A is equivalent to:

  • Biologia/Biologi with minimum 11 courses

History A

History A is equivalent to:

  • Historia/Historie with minimum 7 courses

B-subjects

English B

English B is equivalent to:

  • A‐språk engelska/Englannin kieli, A‐oppimäärä with minimum 7 courses

Mathematics B

Mathematics B is equivalent to:

  • Matematiikassa lyhyt/Matematik kort with minimum 9 courses

Physics B

Physics B is equivalent to:

  • Fysiikka/Fysik with minimum 6 courses

Chemistry B

Chemistry B is equivalent to:

  • Kemia/Kemi with minimum 6 courses

History B

History B is equivalent to:

  • Historia/Historie with minimum 5 courses

Social Studies B

Social Studies B is equivalent to:

  • Yhteiskuntaoppi/Sammhällslära with minimum 7 courses

Language (continued) B

Language (continued) B is equivalent to:

  • Kieli, A‐oppimäära/A‐språk with minimum 5 courses or Kieli, B1/B2‐oppimäärä/B1/B2‐språk with minimum 7 courses

C-subjects

Physics C

Physics C is equivalent to:

  • Fysiikka/Fysik with minimum 3 courses

Chemistry C

Chemistry C is equivalent to:

  • Kemia/Kemi with minimum 3 courses



3. Documentation for your application
 

In order to assess your qualifications we need certain documentation from you:

  • All applicants must submit the mandatory documentation.
  • If you have any of the non-mandatory documentation please include it in your application.
  • All documentation must be uploaded on www.optagelse.dk.

Mandatory documentation:


  • Ylioppilastutkintotodistus / studentexamensbetyg / Certificate of the matriculation examination
  • Lukion päättötodistustus) / avgångsbetyg från gymnasiet / Upper secondary school leaving certification

Non-mandatory documentation:


  • Certificates for supplementary courses from Finland
  • English language test (TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge)
  • Documentation for relevant qualifications

When you make an application for Aarhus University we assess each application individually.
 

  • The examination listed above is the most common from your country. Other examinations from your country could also be qualifying.
     
  • The assessment of the specific subjects above is based on the upper secondary education mentioned on this page. If your subjects don't follow the general curriculum for the above examination from your country then you may not fulfill the requirements above.
     
  • If you do not have the above qualifications you may still fulfill the requirements. You will have to apply in order for us to assess your specific qualifications.
